We advise on transport-related statutory processes including Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), stopping up orders and Public Rights of Way (PRoW) diversions, which are often required to enable development to proceed.

Our advice draws on relevant legislation: the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for TROs, sections 116-117 of the Highways Act 1980 for stopping up and highway alterations, section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 for development-related stopping up, and (in Wales) the Highways Act 1980 as modified by Welsh Government practice. We help identify when such processes are required, advise on feasibility and constraints, and support coordination with the relevant authorities.

By addressing these requirements early and in parallel with the planning process, we help minimise risk, avoid programme delays and support a smooth transition from consent to implementation.
