Our approach uses appropriate modelling techniques to respond to the scale and nature of the potential impacts. This may include junction modelling, network-based assessments or, where required, strategic modelling. We regularly use recognised industry software such as LinSig and TRL Junctions to assess junction capacity and operation, and we also have experience working with microsimulation models where these are appropriate to the complexity of a scheme.
All modelling work is undertaken in line with recognised industry methodologies and relevant guidance, and is carefully scoped to address the matters of interest to highway authorities. Assumptions and inputs are clearly set out to support transparency and effective review.
We focus on providing clear, defensible outputs that address the questions raised by decision-makers, inform the need for mitigation where necessary and support effective, constructive engagement with highway authorities throughout the planning process.
Apex was appointed to provide transport planning and highways support for the development of a new glass processing factory at Baglan Way.
The proposals comprised a large-scale industrial building with associated access arrangements, car and cycle parking, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and servicing facilities.
Our work included extensive traffic modelling to demonstrate the scheme did not have a material impact on the surrounding highway network.
