Our work supports well-designed, legible and inclusive facilities, prioritising clear pedestrian routes, safe vehicle movements and intuitive layouts. We advise on the location and design of bus stops in line with recognised guidance, including Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 (in England), the Active Travel Act Guidance (in Wales), TfL (in London), and local authority standards. This ensures facilities are accessible and work effectively within the street environment.
Where appropriate, we support innovative design solutions such as floating bus stops, cycle bypasses and coordinated crossing arrangements, helping to manage interactions between buses, pedestrians and cyclists safely and intuitively. Facilities are considered as part of a wider movement strategy, alongside active travel infrastructure and public realm design.
This ensures we create bus stop facilities that are functional, resilient and policy-compliant, while supporting high-quality placemaking.
In addition, we have provided input to the connectivity of new rail stations, which includes access by walking and cycling, bus stop facilities, taxi drop-off locations and the extent and design of park and ride facilities.
