About Ben Stone

Ben has more than nine years’ experience providing transport planning advice for development projects across the residential, commercial, education and mixed-use sectors. He combines strong technical expertise with a practical, problem solving approach, helping clients navigate planning challenges and progress development proposals with confidence.

He has extensive experience supporting projects from early feasibility through to planning applications. Ben prepares Transport Assessments and Statements, ES chapters, movement and access strategies, and detailed transport analysis that responds directly to client priorities and local authority expectations.

I enjoy working as part of the team at Apex, tackling technical challenges and finding practical solutions that help our clients move their projects forward.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family and getting out to explore new hiking routes across Wales. More recently, I’ve taken up golf, although there’s still plenty of work to do on my game!

Ben is highly skilled in individual junction modelling, including PICADY, ARCADY and LINSIG.

He produces proportionate, well reasoned and technically robust evidence that helps resolve site specific constraints and demonstrate that proposals operate safely and efficiently. He regularly advises on mitigation strategies such as junction reconfiguration, signal optimisation, pedestrian crossing improvements, active travel upgrades and wider network interventions. This ensures solutions are both technically sound and commercially realistic.

His experience also includes supporting planning appeals, contributing clear and defensible transport evidence for Expert Witnesses. Ben’s work is grounded in sound professional judgement, collaborative engagement with clients and design teams, and a commitment to producing high quality outputs that add value and support confident decision making.
